Greg Fessler up-date :(

(Posted 7-19-2014)

Life Member Greg Fessler is not responding to chemotherapy for stomach cancer.  His wife, Connie, forwarded this e-mail.

"After going to the oncology clinic yesterday, the Dr. decided that the chemotherapy was not helping Greg and that the cancer was winning. They have put him on Hospice now. Right now, we hope to be able to manage his care and pain here at home. If things get too crazy or that we are not able to care for him any longer here, we will have him transferred to the Hospice house in Bremerton. Greg's sister, Susan, has been such a big help and wants to continue to be here for both of us. Our daughter, Danielle, is flying in today from California and will be staying a couple of weeks or longer, if needed. The original diagnosis said 3 to 6 months. It has now been changed to weeks, maybe days. It's just progressing so rapidly. Fortunately, he is able to sleep most of the time, so the pain doesn't seem to be bothering him. Hope that continues.

There are so many people's email addresses that I lost when I got my new computer, so if you could help me pass the word, I would appreciate it. I appreciate all the cards, notes and messages of your support and your prayers.

Fessler's home phone # is 360-871-2395, and Connie's e-mail is  Their mailing address is: 1475 Yukon Harbor Rd SE, Port Orchard WA 98366-8507.

Groton - The U.S. Submarine Veterans Groton Base has named a new commander to serve the remainder of former Cmdr. John Carcioppolo's two-year term, is cooperating with its national organization and has recovered some of its autonomy.

Last year the national organization, the U.S. Submarine Veterans Inc., investigated the Groton Subvets base, which includes a clubhouse with a bar. The investigation came after Carcioppolo mailed letters to Subvets members, including National Cmdr. T. Michael Bircumshaw, asking for tax-deductible donations totaling $15,000 to go toward back taxes and penalties. Read All
