Associate Rests His Oar
Carl Sandquist passed away on June 24th. He was the organizer of the project that cut our flagpoles in half and put new pipe threads on the cuts. Ralph Harris and Dutch Kaiser solicited bids for the job and quickly found out that it is very hard to find pipe fitters with dies big enough to cut the threads. He was also responsible for obtaining the couplings needed to fasten the cut flagpoles together for display. He was a veteran of the aviation navy, an Aviation Boatsman Mate, which those of you who have ever served on aircraft carriers, will recognize as a very dangerous job.
Sailor rest your oar.
