USSVI Bremerton Base Life Member Goes on Eternal Patrol

(Posted  5-25-2014)

Base Commander Sends:

"Greetings,

It is with a heavy heart that I send this message. Yesterday I received an e-mail from the National Office that informed me of the passing of Edward Eugene Blake, on Thursday, May 22. Edward qualified in submarines on the USS Redfish (SS-395) in 1967 and was an ENCS when he left the Navy. He joined USSVI in 2001 and was a member of the Bremerton Base. With Edward departing on Eternal Patrol, let it be known that we have lost another hero. Sailor, rest your oar!

James DeMott
Base Commander

The base with other bases participating had a great turn out for the 66th Bremerton Armed Forces Day Parade.  As you can see below, the weather cooperated plus we we had active duty base members in our ranks along with WRD John Mansfield, who also provided these pictures. Dene Rogers put his old time vehicle in the parade that a some youngsters and their dog enjoyed.
