(Posted 8-15-2013)

Base Treasurer Dennis Nardone finalized the 2013 fireworks sale net profit at $4,261.70, or 17.18% of gross sales.  Fireworks Sales Manager Mike Sullivan and 2014 manger Mike Friend can take pride in their long and hard work on this project.

Other members and volunteers (CPOA) that worked the sales should be recognized as well.  This annual income is the base's major revenue source for operations and charitable activities, primarily the scholarship program.

Bremerton Base Takes Back the Dolphins

(Posted 8-09-2013)

Last evening, Thur, 8 August 5th , Bremerton Base pirates hit the road to take back the coveted traveling dolphins from the Olympic Peninsula Base.  They were met with an anti-pirate proclamation from the John Clear, Olympic Peninsula Base Commander.  It was entertaining, but didn't keep the pirates from succeeding.

A good business meeting was conducted.  GOOD NEWS!

1.  Olympic Peninsula Base will not close.

2.  Aug 24th Steak Dinner Feed at Port Townsend Elks is on for 5 PM.  Professional Chef and Life Member Milo Vandecar will provide a great dinner with steak and fish.  (Ralph Harris has tickets ($16.25)  Stay Tuned!

I am pleased to announce that USSVI has a new Bulletin Board System (BBS), the USSVI Member Questions and Comments BBS at

This is a place where any member can ask a question, comment or make a complaint.

Ground rules, identify yourself, keep it clean and fraternal. Got a problem? Offer a solution.

We want to build a better and more satisfying organization for all our shipmates.

Our mission is to remember our fallen shipmates, encourage fraternalism between
subvets and benefit our submarine family. Your questions and suggestions to help
achieve these ends will be very much appreciated.

Bremerton Base Members,

I am writing this message as reminder for the upcoming parade next weekend.  On Saturday, August 24, the Bremerton Base will be participating in the Celebrating Military Service Parade in Tacoma.  The parade starts at 1800 and goes along Pacific Ave, from S 13th St. to S 24th St.  We need to be positioned at the staging area no later than 1630.

I encourage all members to attend.  This is the first year for this parade and we can help make it a success.  All members are welcome to join us, as are any guests that might like to participate.  By guests, I am referring to any spouses, significant others, family members, friends or shipmates (whether qualified or not).  If you can’t walk the parade route, there is room to ride on the float.

If you would like to car pool to Tacoma, I would like to suggest that we muster at Lowes in Port Orchard, at 1430.  Anyone needing a ride, please contact me as soon as possible so that arrangements can be made.  I look forward to seeing you all next weekend.

Resignation of our National Treasurer, Richard McPherson.
Submitted by: Alfred H Singleman Jr on 8/13/2013
It is with regret that I inform you of the resignation of our National Treasurer,
Richard McPherson. He resigned for personal family reasons.

It is always a setback when any one of our officers, whether at the Base or the national level, decides to step down.

We are fortunate in having past National Treasurer, John Markiewicz, accept the appointment and be confirmed by the BOD to serve out the remainder of this elected term which will end in September of 2014.

John is well schooled in all of our treasurer procedures and is responsible for developing many of the procedures and policy currently in place.
