USSVI Bremerton Base Commander Jim DeMott led other members in a base Medal of Honor (MOH) Project dedication ceremony he organized on Saturday morning, September 29th at Deterrent Park, NBK, Bangor.

Over 30, consisting of members, family and guests, attended.

The military style ceremony was commenced with a parading of colors on to the missile deck of the full scale replica of the topside of the USS Woodrow Wilson (SSBN-624) to a unique engraved brick presentation that honors the seven WWII Submarine Force Medal of Honor recipients. Then the Pledge of Allegiance was conducted.

After an invocation by base Chaplain Fred Borgmann, past base commanders Dave Niemy and Don Bassler gave short remarks describing the history of the Medal of Honor and the creation of this project, respectively.

Jim then conducted the dedication with 3 sideboys, Sam Swenson, Mike Sullivan and Steve Corcoran, saluting over each MOH recipient's brick as he read their MOH certificate.

Retiring of the colors concluded the ceremony.
