Over 30, consisting of members, family and guests, attended.
The military style ceremony was commenced with a parading of colors on to the missile deck of the full scale replica of the topside of the USS Woodrow Wilson (SSBN-624) to a unique engraved brick presentation that honors the seven WWII Submarine Force Medal of Honor recipients. Then the Pledge of Allegiance was conducted.
After an invocation by base Chaplain Fred Borgmann, past base commanders Dave Niemy and Don Bassler gave short remarks describing the history of the Medal of Honor and the creation of this project, respectively.
Jim then conducted the dedication with 3 sideboys, Sam Swenson, Mike Sullivan and Steve Corcoran, saluting over each MOH recipient's brick as he read their MOH certificate.

SEPTEMBER MEETING BRIEF
The September monthly business meeting featured artist, Minnesota-based artist Charles Kapsner. He gave the members an overview of his military portrait project. The project consisting of five 8 X 10 foot oil paintings that honor Veterans, not in any particular war, and is still in progress.
All of the paintings, when completed (over the next three years) will hang in the Committal Hall at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, located just outside of Camp Ripley in central Minnesota.
When complete the paintings, each depicting the contributions of the men and women who have, and are, proudly serving in our Nation's Armed Forces. The five paintings ensure that each branch is showcased-Army, Marine Corps, U.S.Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard (with a tribute to the Merchant Marine).
The effort and detail of Charles' work is enormous.
John Gardner and I can gave a very brief a review of the National Convention. Over all very well organized and well done. One of the best that I have been to.
The base is holding brief a WWII Sub Force MOH ceremony at 10:30 on /Sat, Sept 29 at Deterrent Park. Look sharp their will pictures taken.
